Video Endoscopy
Video endoscopy is an essential tool for diagnosing and treating conditions in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. It allows for a detailed examination of the esophagus, stomach, and parts of the intestines, as well as the ability to take tissue samples and remove foreign bodies or blockages. Most importantly, endoscopy provides a quick, non-invasive alternative to major surgery. At AECFV, we primarily use endoscopy for exploratory diagnostics and foreign body removal. To expand our scope of capabilities, we also have a bronchoscope and a gastroscope.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive, pain-free procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of your pet’s internal organs. Often considered more precise than radiographs, ultrasound provides a dynamic "movie" of what's happening inside your pet’s body. It’s especially valuable for examining abdominal organs like the spleen, kidneys, liver, and gallbladder, and can also be used to assess heart function, as well as the bladder, thyroid, testicles, and mammary glands.
At AECFV, our emergency veterinarians regularly perform abdominal and chest ultrasounds using the latest techniques. For complex cases, ultrasound images may be shared with a radiologist via telemedicine for further analysis and consultation.

Digital Radiographs
Radiographs (X-rays) are crucial for diagnosing and monitoring various medical and surgical conditions. They allow us to examine your pet’s bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity, and other areas, helping us detect fractures, internal injuries, heartworm disease, or locate foreign bodies and obstructions in the intestines or stomach.
At AECFV, we use advanced digital radiography equipment and stay up to date with the latest radiographic techniques. Digital radiography also enables us to quickly share X-ray images with radiologists for additional insight and confirmation.

CT Scanning
CT scanning, or computed tomography, produces high-resolution images of your pet, making it one of the most advanced diagnostic tools available. We’re excited to offer this service, as it provides invaluable insights, particularly for detecting small masses and thoroughly assessing trauma damage — conditions that may not be visible with standard radiographs or ultrasound.
The CT scanner is a ring-shaped device that rotates around your pet. Using this technology, the computer creates detailed images that can be manipulated in various ways, allowing for a comprehensive examination of all internal body structures. These detailed images help us make the most accurate and timely diagnosis possible.
This advanced diagnostic technology significantly enhances the level of care and treatment we can offer your pet. It’s just one of the many ways we are committed to protecting your pet’s health, ensuring both of you can enjoy a long and happy life together.
